Help with using PDF files and Acrobat Reader
This site uses PDF file (Portable Document Format) files. This format is typically smaller than Word - so is faster to download. It is also viewable across Mac and PC platforms. PDF document require the free Adobe Acrobat reader to read them.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. You may already have it on your PC. Just click on the view document link in the search results and Acrobat Reader will open the file automatically.
If you do not have Acrobat Reader it can be downloaded by clicking here.
Using Acrobat Reader
Navigation
Use the scroll bar or the navigation icons in the toolbar at the top of the Acrobat Reader window to move from page to page.
Many of the documents have bookmarks showing in the navigation pane.
To find the bookmarks - look over to the upper left of an open document - you should see a small list of subject headings - you can click on these to move to a topic within a document.
To Print
Use the printer icon within the Acrobat Reader window for best results - do not use the browser print button.
To return to the search results
Use the back button in your web browser.
To Save
To save a document look for the small save icon (a diskette symbol) in the top left corner of the acrobat reader.
